MultiColor Monday: Carolyn Knefely and Vonda Skelton

This week, I honor and celebrate two of my spiritual moms, Carolyn Knefely and Vonda Skelton, founders and leaders of Christian Communicators Conference (CCC).

About MultiColor Monday: As most of you know, all writers need regular inspiration. On the 1st and 3rd Monday of every month, I’ll share information about people who inspire me by their writing and their lives. The series is called Multi-Color Monday to reflect the beauty and diversity of God’s children. My hope is that you, too, will be blessed and inspired by those you meet here.

About Carolyn and Vonda:

Carolyn and Vonda are gifted mentors, teachers, writers, and speakers. Several years ago, prompted by the Holy Spirit, they joined forces and birthed CCC to mentor women who wanted to develop speaking ministries. From the CCC website:

Vonda Skelton

Christian Communicators’ mission is “To educate, validate, and launch women in their speaking ministries.”

Our vision is “to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.”  Ephesians 4:12

How Carolyn and Vonda inspire me:

I met Vonda at a Christian writer’s conference in 2008, where she taught a four-part class on speaking. I thought, “I’d like to learn more from this teacher!” Five years later, I received a notice about their annual CCC event at The Cove in Asheville. It was THE best conference I’ve ever attended. Vonda and Carolyn are godly women, mothers in the faith, and they live what they believe. They openly shared experiences from their hearts, both successes and failures, and poured God’s love into all of us for five days.

And their mentoring continues after the conference. They are cheerleaders, encouragers, and also kindly direct and honest when you ask for their opinion. They exemplify what spiritual moms should be: mentors in the faith who willingly share of themselves to equip the next generation. I am blessed to be one of their spiritual kids.

Prayer for Carolyn and Vonda, and CCC:

Lord, bless Carolyn and Vonda with an amazing ability to sit at your feet on the inside no matter what is happening on the outside. Give them discernment and wisdom for every situation they face, both personally and professionally. Bless their marriages, their families, their friendship and business partnership, and all of their ministries. Guide them by the peace that passes all understanding for every decision that comes their way, and give them grace to release decisions that are not theirs to make. Protect them from the enemy, and give them discernment to know when to fight him, and when to move on.

My “favorite” Carolyn and Vonda posts:

God, the Phone, and the Telemarketer. I laughed a hearty and convicting laugh when I read Vonda’s post. You know, the laugh because you’re busted, having done the exact same thing. But, hey, there’s always hope with Jesus.

Blind Victory. Carolyn exhorts us to look at perceived failures through the eyes of Jesus, who is always enough for every situation. She openly shares what she thought was failure, but through God’s eyes realized He received glory that never would have been possible had she succeeded.
