No,
this is not the title of an old war or science fiction movie.
But
you’re close!
Taken from the old TV show Get Smart, KAOS was a fictional "international organization of evil", run by Mr. Big. Maxwell Smart was an agent for CONTROL, the good guys, and their boss was known only as The Chief. The agents of CONTROL were in constant battle with KAOS to stop their evil ways and "save the world".
Sounds
familiar, doesn’t it?
Like
the TV show, we have a Chief who is the Head of the good guys. And an enemy who
thinks of himself as Mr. Big. But unlike
the show, we don’t need to be agents out on our own, “doing good” under the Chief's leadership but under our own power.
“His divine power has given us everything we need for
a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and
goodness.” 2 Peter 1:3 (NIV)
But
yet we struggle. Why?
Because we don’t take the time to be still in His
presence and receive His peace and His provision. We try too hard to solve our problems in our own strength.
I’d like
to share a few posts from an awesome variety of talented writers on finding peace in the midst of a KAO-tic
world.
The answer for worry: Jeremiah Peters: Rest in the Lord
The answer for weariness: Susan Stillwell: Fan the Flame
The answer for stress and striving: Ginger Harrington: Bring on the Peace
The answer for frustration: Jamie Britt: Perfect Peace
Did you see the theme in their answers? When we let go of our control and shift our focus to the Source of
Perfect Goodness, and spend time in His presence, we will experience the peace He promises to all of us right in the midst of our KAOS.
TODAY’S CHALLENGE: Where do you need His peace? Take a few
minutes right now—yes, right this moment—to focus on Him and receive His peace.
I was a H.U.G.E. Man from U.N.C.L.E. fan and I love the parallel you make here. Needing to control has always been one of my issues. As I have sat here considering this, I am aware that this need has dreadfully impacted my moving forward with my writing. Thanks for sharing this.
ReplyDeleteYes, i remember that show too. TV was SO different back then :-).
DeleteI'm with you on the control thing and how it can be a barrier. But also, I've found many things I THOUGHT I had under control were really being orchestrated by Him. In the midst of our mess, He is amazing!
Blessings, and thank you for your comments.
What an honor to be listed here, Mary! And you're so right -- when things get hectic, one of the first things we do is rush into "firefighter" mode and start doing! But it makes SUCH a difference when we start our day in His presence and let Him fill our tanks.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing such a GREAT truth :)
Thank you for your comments, Susan. You always encourage me! Blessings!
