We often use words carelessly, or out of habit, without
thinking about what we’re really saying. Over time, the words become burdens we
carry as we either try to live up to them or give in to their lies. In this 2-part
blog, I’ll share what God recently showed me about a few frequently used words
and phrases that are particularly destructive to us and to others.

MultiColor Monday: Christian Music
Multicolor Monday: Sharing exhortation and inspiration from other members of the body of Christ, that we may all benefit from the gifts God has given them. (Romans 12, 1 Corinthians 12)
Around 2AM this morning I woke up with a worship song playing gently in my mind. Busy and tumbling words about what my work day might be like and all I had to do threatened to overpower the song.

Progress
Last week I talked with a friend who struggled with a
sense that she was not making the progress she should be in her faith journey.
Something happened at work that triggered an old familiar response in her emotions
– one she felt she should not be having any more.

Beauty of God's Creation
"Oh my, it is so beautiful! Thank you, God, for this tree, you are so amazing!"
That's me when I see a mimosa tree.

Multicolor Monday: Holiness
Multicolor Monday: Sharing exhortation and inspiration
from other members of the body of Christ, that we may all benefit from the
gifts God has given them. (Romans 12, 1 Corinthians 12)
When you hear the word “holiness”,
do you picture a somber-looking individual with their hands folded in prayer? For
a long time, that was one of my go-to pictures…along with words like aloof,
impossible to attain, boring, and very religious.

Productive vs. Fruitful
This morning during my quiet time, I felt weary. Work has
been busy, schedule is full, time is flying by. All is well – I love my job,
the scheduled activities are fun, and I am healthy.
Yet I’m weary.

Run for the Prize
I read a verse today in 1 Corinthians that jumped out at me:
Do you not know that in a race
all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to
get the prize (1 Cor 9:24, NIV, emphasis mine)

Perpetual Dawn
Over three years ago the Lord gave me this insight about the
perpetual dawn I camped out in. I couldn’t write it down because I was driving,
so I dictated it into the Notes app on my phone.
Saturday I found it when searching for something else. His
timing is amazing…and I am now cutting the weeds away from my campsite.

Where's the Fruit?
Yesterday I had breakfast with a dear friend of mine. We
talked about the Lord’s activity in our lives, sharing joys and struggles in
our journeys. She passed along an interesting challenge she received:
