MultiColor Monday: This Past Weekend

Have you ever felt threatened by people who:
  • didn't talk, look, act, or dress like you?
  • were smarter/prettier/taller/shorter/funnier (you name it) than you?

For me, seems like I can always find something in others that is better than me - something I wish I had. As a result, I've spent way too much time trying to fit myself into someone else's mold. While I know we are all unique, meeting others who are different almost always brings out a need to compete - to prove I "measure up". I often try to find a common ground and focus on that so I can gain their approval and acceptance.

Until this past weekend.

I met the most wonderful group of women at a Christian Communicators conference. We talked, laughed, cried, hugged, and vulnerably shared from our lives and trusted each other with our dreams. I found myself opening up in a safe and encouraging environment, finally free to be "me" and know that I belong, warts and all. Instead of being threatened by differences, I found each person's unique-ness truly delightful.

Wait, did I miss something?  Yes, maybe a few somethings.

Gossip. Judgement. Slander. Competition. This past weekend, they never showed up. Because of our delight in discovering about each other, and our focus on God's working in our lives, we had no time for them.

So I dedicate this MultiColor Monday to my dear sisters in Christ, my eclectic group of trustworthy friends I met this past weekend. Here are a few of their blogs.

From Cyn Rogalski, Feeling Like I'm Visiting an Old Friend

From Laura Polk, Showing You the More

From Vicki Hurley, Amazing Things God Will Do

I love you all! Thanks to you, I can now say, "When God made me, He broke the mold."  And I can now be glad He did.

TODAY'S CHALLENGE: Are you thankful God made you exactly as you are? Ask Him to show you what He sees when He looks at you.
